So here’s my dilemma. Last summer I tried sailing in Croatia with some friends and we had a skipper, which was fun but also meant we were kind of “guests” on our own trip. Now I’m looking at Seychelles, and I keep hearing about bareboat charters. It sounds tempting because it’s more freedom and privacy, but I’ve only sailed a few times before and never in the Indian Ocean. Some people told me that Seychelles has tricky winds and navigating between the islands can be a challenge. Has anyone here tried both options there? I’m trying to figure out whether I should play it safe with a skipper or go for the adventure of steering the yacht myself.

I’m not really into sailing, but Seychelles has always been on my list for other reasons. I’ve heard the beaches there are out of this world, and some people say it’s the clearest water they’ve ever seen. For me, it’s more about the islands themselves rather than how you get around them. I’ve seen pictures of La Digue and Praslin, and they honestly look like something out of a movie. Even if someone isn’t into boats, I feel like just visiting those islands by ferry or local tours would still make the trip unforgettable.
